This is a very nice Winchester Model 1886 rifle in the very desirable .45-90 WCF caliber.

Antique. Original 26" octagon barrel, full magazine, crescent butt. This gun is an unmolested survivor, not altered in any way.

Original sights. Wood very sound, not sanded, not cracked (one teeny hairline at front of forend, see pics) No extra holes! Finish added over the years, fits perfectly.

This was originally a color case hardened receiver gun, all of the colors have gone away. There is no blue left on the gun, evidently someone spent a lot of time removing the blue to match the receiver which lost its colors. The gun looks "peppery" but is really not pitted significantly...mostly discolored. Sharp markings. No extra holes anywhere. Some screws moderately buggered, less than most guns of this era.

Magazine band tight, mag tube not dented.

Above average bore for this antique rifle... bright, decent lands, frosted, some pitting, I'd rate it a 6 out of 10. Very shootable.
