This is a very charming unique AH Fox gun. Real eye candy with a wonderful feel and excellent dimensions. A perfect little smallbore Fox to take to the range or afield. This delightful gun weighs in at 5# 14oz on my digital scale.
This gun started out a Sterlingworth grade from the Philadelphia era. It was later highly upgraded both metal & wood to it’s current splendor. Water table marked “X Special”. I was told by the gentleman who originally consigned this upgrade that the engraving was done by the Master Engraver Gournet.
The metalwork is fantastic!! The execution of the AH Fox X grade engraving pattern is one of the best I have ever seen to compare to an original, both receiver and barrel breech wedges. The frame breech balls have been masterfully filed to match the barrel/rib contour in true X grade fashion. Beautiful case color was accomplished which is not too dark so as not to hide the beauty of this engraving. Lovely bust of dog with bird inlaid in gold with “Nooseneck Hill Club” “1903-2003″ also inlaid in gold on the underside of the frame. 28” barrels & trigger guard have been finished nicely with deep rust blue.
Both forend and buttstock are beautifully grained and are of nice dimension. Fitted with solid rubber recoil pad of correct early style. Forend is of the “snap-on” type which would be correct for an early Fox smallbore gun.
The 28″ barrels weigh in at 2# 15oz and are chambered at 2 1/2″ with my slide in Galazan gauge. Right barrel: .654 .009 choke (IC) with minimum wall of .032.
Left barrel: .654 .019 choke (IM) with minimum wall .036. Barrels marked “Chromox Fluid Compressed Steel”.
Stock dimensions: 1 1/4″ 1 7/8″ 14 1/8″
Crisp trigger pulls,NON-automatic safely. Extractor gun. This gun is in near new condition with very few handling marks only.
This gun is being offered at a price far below the cost of replacement with no wait!!!
