This a very unique Stevens catalog. General catalog No. 54. I have never seen another. This is a leather covered book with a metal binding so pages can be removed and the catalog can be updated. This catalog has a very unique history & provenence.The cover is marked G.S. Lewis & 1910. The stamps on the inside of this Stevens Buyers Catalog catalog that says ” return to Miss Connor”. This relates to Miss Gertrude Connor who was a spinster lady that spent her entire working career at Stevens and Savage. She lived only a couple of blocks from the Hill Plant in Chicopee Falls( Walnut St.) and walked to that job everyday until it moved to Westfield. She and a companion loved to travel all over the world and they made a trip every year to someplace. She spent most of her job in the Service Dept. and retired from the Savage, Westfield plant in the late 1960’s. This catalog has tabs glued to the pages for quick reference. 78 pages!
The catalog has been well used, the cover and leather spine is tattered. The pages appear to be complete. This catalog is a wealth of information…obviously used regularly.
This is a great piece with real gunmaking history. One of a kind!
